ISKANDAR PUTERI- It is unfair for the state’s new Opposition leader (from Umno) to hit out at the Pakatan state government for being unable to come up with plans to develop Johor, said state International Trade, Investment and Utilities Committee chairman Jimmy Puah (pic).
“It has been 40 days since we took over from Barisan Nasional, which has ruled Johor for about 61 years,” said Puah.
He added that Umno Benut assemblyman Datuk Hasni Mohammad should be more realistic.
“It is only fair to give us some time to come up with something to develop Johor,” he said at a press conference at Bangunan Dato’ Jaafar Muhammad here on Thursday (June 21).
Puah said the main task for the new state government is to do house-cleaning, institutional reforms and to lay a strong foundation for the state.
“A strong foundation is important before we come out with the concrete plans which we already have in place,” he said.
He said the state government is currently reviewing peculiar decisions made by the previous Barisan state government.
“We are puzzled by the decisions made by the previous administration and will reveal the findings to the public,” added Puah.
He said the northern Johor areas comprising of the Muar, Segamat and Tangkak districts would be the new growth region.
Puah said Muar would be developed as a furniture hub while Segamat will be slated for large scale cattle breeding activities. Tangkak will be the gateway to the northern part of Johor.- The Star Online
