KUALA LUMPUR: Lawyers for Ampang MP Zuraida Kamaruddin have been unable to serve her defamation suit against Umno politician Datuk Seri Jamal Md Yunos on him.
Her lawyer, Melissa Sasidaran, said they still have not been able to serve a copy of the lawsuit on Jamal at his known addresses.
“We have attempted service at his house in Ampang and his Sungai Besar Umno division office but we failed to do so,” she said.
She said she had informed High Court deputy registrar Noorasyikin Sahat over the failure to hand a copy of the suit to Jamal, who is also the leader of the Red Shirts group and the Sungai Besar Umno division chief.
Melissa said Noorasyikin has set Dec 20 for case management pending service of the suit.
Zuraida filed a civil suit against Jamal for issuing a media statement, claiming he had slandered her an incident at a shopping centre in Ampang last month where he sustained a bloody nose.
In her court papers filed on Nov 17, Zuraida said Jamal had claimed that one of her men had hit and punched him, and had implied she was a criminal.
Zuraida said he had tarnished her character and reputation as a Member of Parliament and a public figure.
