KUALA LUMPUR: PKR wanita chief Zuraida Kamaruddin has refused to accept the insult-laced apology issued by Datuk Seri Jamal Yunos.
The Ampang MP said Jamal had until Wednesday afternoon to come out with an open apology for accusing her of instructing a Bersih supporter under her to punch him during a tussle between the Red Shirts and Bersih members at a shopping mall here last weekend.
“I think this is the attitude of someone who is uncivilised. The language he used, it just shows how uneducated this Datuk Seri is,” she told reporters in Parliament on Tuesday.
“If he doesn’t come out with an open apology as per what I demanded, we are going to file a suit (against him) on Thursday morning,” she added.
Jamal, who is the Sungai Besar Umno chief, had earlier apologised to Zuraida in a crass manner by saying that he was forced to “menyelak kain (uncover her) to expose the scabs and mange that may be on her feet”.
Jamal’s words to “menyelak kain (to uncover the cloth or skirt)” is an allegory for revealing a secret.
Zuraida said Jamal’s choice of words showed that his apology was not sincere.
“It sounds more like he was sorry that he needed to apologise,” said Zuraida.
