KUALA LUMPUR – Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi shared his passion for superbikes during the Obviously Harith Iskander talk show.
Making his entrance with a Harley-Davidson bike, the Deputy Prime Minister also discussed about his political stance and family.
“I started riding bikes in 1973 when I was in Universiti Malaya. My first bike was a Yamaha 250cc, a gift from my late father.
“Even when I graduated, I did not buy a car, I bought a scrambler. My girlfriend, who is now my wife was very keen on both – the bike (and me),” said Dr Ahmad Zahid, who is the president of Superbikers Association of Malaysia (SAM).
Responding to a question by Harith on the sacking of two Umno senior members recently, Dr Ahmad Zahid said members must be loyal to the party.
The Deputy Prime Minister said he was loyal to the party even after he was detained under the then Internal Security Act (ISA) in 1998.
“I am patient , I follow the wave, I am loyal to the party and now I am here … loyalty is important,” he said.
He added that politics nowadays were more sophisticated with new challenges that needed to be addressed, especially involving the young generation.
“The mindset has changed. They are more bright-minded, more critical, this is what we call Gen Y and Gen Z,” he said at the talk show over Astro Awani on Saturday.
Dr Ahmad Zahid was later presented with a cake in conjunction with the Father’s Day celebration by his grandchild as he was not able to celebrate it earlier due to his busy schedule.
The talk show also featured stand-up comedy artist, Butch Bradley and Dasha Logan, the daughter of the late Alleycats vocalist Loganathan Arumugam. – Bernama
