IPOH – About 2,000 firemen will gather here this Thursday for the 2017 World Firemen’s Day.
Perak Fire and Rescue director Datuk Yahaya Madis said the firemen would comprise 16 teams, including from the Hazardous Materials management Team (Hazmat) and Water Rescue Team, and there would also be 14 invited teams.
“The number of members in a team has been increased from only 35 last year to about 60 people this year, he told Bernama recently.
He said the celebration would be held at Dewan Bandaran Ipoh from 8 am and scheduled to be opened by the Sultan of Perak, Sultan Nazrin Shah.
The highlights of the celebration would include a guard of honour, fire-fighting demonstration, fly-past by helicopters from the Fire and Rescue Department and parade by the various units in the department, he added.
He said there would also be exhibition booths by various agencies, including the police, Road and Transport Department, Health Department, Ipoh Municipal Council, Election Commission, National Registration Department and the Education Department. – BERNAMA
