KUALA LUMPUR – Safe, comfortable and time-saving. These are the three main factors that women are concerned about when dealing with public and private service counters.
Checks by Bernama at Sentul Urban Transformation Centre (UTC) here found that most women supported the government’s effort to set up special service counters for women at UTC and Rural Transformation Centre (RTC) nationwide.
For a law student, A. Sharmeera, women would be more comfortable if they have a special counter for them.
“I’m just hoping that the officer manning the counter will be woman as well,” said the 21-year-old student.
For Sarah Hashim, 28, the special counter would benefit the mothers who visited the centres.
Siti Manam Yaacob, 41, said the counter would help ease the burden of women who were always busy with house chores.
“I support this because it can save time. With the special counter for us, things can be done quickly,” she said.
The proposed special counter is among the focus for Barisan Nasional in its manifesto in honouring the status of women in the country. – BERNAMA
