KUALA LUMPUR: The woman who was badly burnt while using her mobile phone as she was filling up at a petrol station has died.
During the 1.25pm incident on June 28, T. Sarishna, 23, was talking on her mobile phone inside her car at the petrol station in Setapak.
When contacted, Wangsa Maju OCPD Supt Mohd Roy Suhaimi Sarif confirmed that Sarishna had passed away on Sunday in Hospital Kuala Lum-pur.
Witnesses had seen Sarishna using her mobile phone while her car was being refuelled.
A worker at the petrol station, who declined to be named, said her colleague saw what happened and alerted her about the incident.
They later found Sarishna slumped on the back seat of the car before she was rushed to a nearby hospital.
According to reports, static electricity from the petrol fumes may have caused sparks that ignited a fire.
