BUTTERWORTH – A car driven by a woman, reportedly against traffic flow, at KM134 of the North-South Expressway in Seberang Perai Tengah crashed into a car, killing a man in an accident involving a motorcycle and three other vehicles.
In the 7.50am accident, near the northbound intersection to Permatang Pauh, Mohamad Fandi Rosli, 26, died on the spot due to serious head and body injuries.
It is understood that he was from Sungai Petani, Kedah, and was on his way home after work at a factory in Perai.
Police believe the 19-year-old woman who was driving a Proton Gen-2 was drunk.
“The Proton Gen-2 was driven against traffic flow from Sungai Dua heading to Butterworth and crashed into the front of the Perodua Kelisa driven by Mohamad Fandi.
“The crash caused the car driven by the woman to veer to the left and crash into a motorcycle before it spun several times and hit two cars and a factory van,” said Seberang Perai Tengah district police chief, ACP Nik Ros Azhan Nik Abdul Hamid.
He said the woman, a motorcyclist and the three drivers of the other vehicles suffered minor injuries and were sent to Seberang Jaya Hospital.
The body of Mohamad Fandi was also sent to the same hospital. – BERNAMA
