The new road names in Kuala Lumpur are just confusing as they are distressing, but in we’ll get used to it in time, says Mayor Ahmad Phesal Talib.
After not-so-warm feedback from the public about the recent renaming of eight well-known major roads in the city, Ahmad Phesal stressed that such a thing was not new.
““This exercise is to honour our past Rulers. Therefore, we had to rename prominent roads to reflect their significance. Renaming of roads is not new. For example, Jalan Raja Chulan and Jalan Sultan Ismail were formerly known as Jalan Weld and Jalan Treacher, but now everyone is familiar with the new names,†he says, as quoted in The Star Online.
Earlier this week, the DBKL announced name changes which would serve to honour Malay rulers who had reigned as the Yang d-Pertuan Agong.
