KUALA LUMPUR – Former national men’s singles shuttler Chong Wei Feng continued his fine form by cruising to the quarter-final at the Macau Open Grand Prix Gold Badminton Tournament in Macau, yesterday.
The 7th seeded player only took 39 minute to dispose off unheralded Japanese shuttler, Koki Watanabe, winning in 21-17 and 21-15 in the third round match held at Tap Seac Multisport Pavilion, according to the Badminton World Federation (BWF) website www.bwfbadminton.com.
Accompanied him into the last eight were the national professional player, Zulfadli Zulkiffli who scored a hard-fought 21-11, 14-21 and 21-15 win against national junior player, Lim Chi Wing.
Malaysian women’s doubles pair, Chow Mei Kuan/Lee Meng Yean, on the other hand, pulled off a sensational 21-19 and 21-14 win over 3rd seed, Hsu Ya Ching/Wu Ti Jung of Taiwan in the second round.
National mixed doubles pair, the 8th seeded Chan Peng Soon/Cheah Yee See also moved to the last eight by defeating the scratch pair of Mohamad Arif Abdul Latif/Rusydina Antardayu Riodingin (Malaysia/Indonesia) 21-18 and 21-10.
