JOHOR BAHRU – Johor Darul Ta’zim (JDT) hope to capitalise on their home ground advantage for a win when they face Vietnamese football club, Song Lam Nghe An FC, at Tan Sri Dato’ Haji Hassan Yunos Stadium in Larkin, tomorrow.
Team captain Safiq Rahim said losing was not an option for them at this stage especially when his team were determined to reach the next stage of the 2018 AFC Cup competition.
Currently, the Southern Tigers are placed third in group H behind the Vietnamese club while Indonesian’s Persija Jakarta are leading the group.
“We are playing in our home ground and in front of our loyal supporters, so with the edge, we will not disappoint them. All we need to do now is to focus on our team and follow our coach’s tactical strategy.
“If we manage to follow that, then it is not impossible for us to get a positive result. Our preparations have been coming along smoothly but we need to win this game not just for us but more importantly, the confidence of our loyal supporters,” he told a press conference here, today.
“We don’t want to look down on our opponents because anything can happen in football. We might get 6-0, we might get 1-0 or a draw or even worse, lose the game, (so) what we can do right now is to give our best,” he said. – BERNAMA
