KOTA KINABALU – Parti Warisan Sabah’s Datuk Peter Anthony (pic), who is under probe over a RM155mil land deal, was released on bail after the expiry of his seven-day remand.
Magistrate Afiq Agoes ordered for an immediate medical check-up after Anthony’s counsel Martin Tommy submitted a medical report to the court. Tommy, however, did not disclose what illness the Warisan vice-president is suffering from.
The magistrate allowed for Anthony to be taken to a private hospital and instructed his guarantor to go to the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) office here to pay the RM55,000 bail for his release.
Anthony was arrested on Jan 5 and initially remanded for three days from Jan 6. The remand order was then extended by another four days on Monday (Jan 8).
Lawyer Michael Persius Ubu is also wanted by the MACC over the case. Ubu has yet to surrender himself to the authorities and is believed to be overseas. – The Star Online
