MELAKA – Wanita UMNO has lined up various programmes to strengthen its position to face the challenging issues in the upcoming UMNO General Assembly (UGA) 2016.
Its chief, Tan Sri Shahrizat Abdul Jalil said all the programmes planned will not only involve party members at all levels, but also from women outside the political party and those from non-governmental organisations (NGO).
“Hence, we have designed interesting activities through our various outreach programmes,” she told reporters after Quran Recital and Marhaban competitions organised by Wanita UMNO, here today.
She said this when asked to comment on the preparation and programmes to be organised in conjunction with UGA scheduled to be held at Putra World Trade Centre here from Nov 29 to Dec 3.
Earlier, the Quran Recital competition saw participation of 13 states’ representatives while Marhaban competition participated by 12 groups comprised Wanita UMNO members from across the country.
The event was officiated by the Melaka Islamic Religious Council (Maim) deputy chairman Datuk Yaakob Md Amin and saw Maimunah Awang of Penang won the Quran Recital competition and followed by Siti Aminah Abdullah of Johor (first runner-up) and Che Mohd Fathil of Kelantan ( second runner-up).
For Marhaban category, the winner was Al-Zahra Nur Qasih group from Kedah, followed by Ummul Mukminin from Pahang (first runner-up) and Marhaban Nur Laila from Melaka as the second-runner-up. – BERNAMA
