KUANTAN – The Pahang government, with the cooperation of the Tourism and Culture Ministry, is organising ‘Visit Pahang Century Ride 2017’ (VIPCR17) to attract more tourists to the state.
State Tourism and Culture Committee chairman Datuk Seri Mohd Sharkar Shamsuddin said the cycling programme was previously known as Kuantan Century Ride (KCR), but changed to VIPCR17 in conjunction with Visit Pahang Year this year.
“It involves a 167-kilometre bicycle ride through Kuantan, Pekan and Maran which will take participants to tourism spots such as the Orang Asli settlements, Che Minah Sayang Recreation Centre, Bandar Back To Nature Maran and Bukit Gambang Resort City,” he told a media conference after the VIPCR17 main committee meeting and handing over of sponsorship here yesterday.
Also present were director at the Pahang office of the Ministry of Tourism and Culture, Datuk Idros Yahya, Tourism Pahang general manager Datuk Ishak Mokhtar and Tourism Malaysia Pahang director Mohd Faharuddin Hatmin.
Mohd Sharkar said more than 1,000 participants, including from Singapore. Thailand and Bangladesh were scheduled to participate in the event.
Some 605 people have confirmed their participation, he added. – BERNAMA
