SEPANG – Vietnamese Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung arrived today for a two-day official visit to Malaysia.
Nguyen, and his wife Tran Thanh Kiem, were welcomed at the KL International Airport by Deputy Finance Minister Datuk Chua Tee Yong, who is the minister-in-attendance.
A Wisma Putra statement said Nguyen’s visit was upon the invitation of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak.
This is Nguyen’s third visit to Malaysia since his appointment as the prime minister in 2006.
The programme of his visit includes a welcoming ceremony, a restricted meeting with Najib and a delegation meeting today in Putrajaya.
Nguyen and Najib are expected to take stock of the progress of existing bilateral relations and discuss enhancement of many areas of sectoral cooperation for the mutual benefit of the two countries, the statement said.
Najib and his wife Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor are also scheduled to host an official dinner tonight in honour of Nguyen and his wife at the Seri Perdana Complex.
Nguyen is also scheduled to meet Dewan Rakyat Speaker Tan Sri Pandikar Amin Mulia tomorrow, attend a special dialogue with big corporations in Malaysia and ASEAN as well as meet representatives of the Vietnamese community in Malaysia. – BERNAMA
