More Variety In KTMB Menu For ETS Users From Wednesday

KUALA LUMPUR – Users of Keretapi Tanah Melayu Berhad’s (KTMB) electric train service (ETS) will enjoy a wider variety of food served onboard with the addition of seven new dishes to the menu.

KTMB president Datuk Sarbini Tijan said the Chinese, Indian, Western and vegetarian dishes would be able to satisfy different taste preferences.

The seven new dishes are Assorted Dim Sum with Housin Sauce, Mee Goreng Mamak, Mini Idli with Dhall Curry, Sweet Sour Fish with Rice, Yee Mee with Black Pepper Chicken, Stuffed Paratha with Dhall Curry and Tomato Chutney, and Spaghetti Seafood Bolognaise.

“The new menu is offered at reasonable prices to passengers onboard more than 40 ETS trains from tomorrow,” he told reporters after the launching of the menu, here, today.

Sarbini said the halal certificate for the ETS coach menu had been issued by the Malaysia Islamic Development Department (Jakim) to KTMB last July 29.

“KTMB is the first rail service operator in the world serving halal Dim Sum on its trains,” he said.

As an introductory promotion, he said, KTMB was offering a food combo package at RM7 per set for three of the new dishes, namely Assorted Dim Sum with Hoisin Sauce, Mini Idli with Dhall Curry and Mee Goreng Mamak from tomorrow until Sept 16.

“Each food combo package comes with a bottle of mineral water. This promotion is offered in conjunction with the 59th Merdeka Day and Malaysia Day celebrations.”

Sarbini also said that KTMB planned to introduce online advance booking for dishes in the menu of the ETS service in future.

“We are discussing the matter and doing the test run first. If the response is encouraging, we will launch the online advance booking service,” he added. – BERNAMA
