IPOH – Independent preacher Datuk Mohamad Kazim Elias, better known as Ustaz Kazim, lodged a report at the Manjoi police station, here, today over a video recording of his ceramah (public talk), claimed by a community leader in Kelantan to have racial overtones.
Ustaz Kazim made the police report at about 9.40am. However, he declined to give a media statement after that.
Representatives of a number of non-governmental organisations had waited outside the police station as a show of support for the Islamic preacher.
Yesterday in Kelantan, chairman of the Kampung Jambu Residents Association in Tumpat, Pui Tiong Lam, lodged a report at the Wakaf Bharu police station, claiming that the two minutes and 27 seconds of video recording of Ustaz Kazim’s ceramah was disparaging to the Chinese community.
Wira Perkasa Malaysia head, Irwan Fahmi Ideris, when met by reporters, said the video recording was made of Ustaz Kazim’s ceramah delivered six years ago.
“We don’t know the motive of uploading the video recording onto the social website, but it could cast aspersions on Ustaz Kazim and wrongly portray Islamic religious talks as containing ridicule against the other communities,” he said.
Irwan Fahmi was of the view that the message that Ustaz Kazim was trying to deliver had been twisted and this could cause uneasiness to the public, especially the Muslim community. – BERNAMA
