ALOR SETAR – The Education Ministry will wait for thepolice to complete their investigation before taking any action against a teacher of Sekolah Kebangsaan Ibrahim, Sungai Petani, who had allegedly asked Non-Muslim students to drink their urine, as a joke.
Deputy Education Minister P. Kamalanathan who had ticked off the teacher for the ‘Urine’ joke, said he personally felt action should be taken if such allegations were true.
Action need to be taken to show the Education Ministry would not accept such jokes or behaviour.
Kamalanathan police should be given time to complete their investigation.
“If the allegation is true, the Education Ministry has a disciplinary committee in the state and central. They will however, wait for the report from the police,” he told reporters after breaking fast with the Kedah Education Department staff, here yesterday.
“There are more than 400,000 teachers throughout the country and they are responsible and ready to sacrifice for the sake of the teaching profession. We do not want one ‘black sheep’ to tarnish the good work of the rest. Personally I am not too happy that this happened.”
In the incident, the teacher had allegedly told non-Muslim students not to drink water in class but only in the toilet and if they did not have enough water, they could either drink from the tap or drink their own urine. – Bernama
