KUALA LUMPUR – Police received a report claiming that Tamil and Mathematics papers in this year’s Ujian Penilaian Sekolah Rendah (UPSR) had also been leaked.
Kuala Lumpur police chief Datuk Tajuddin Md Isa said an officer from the Malaysian Examination Syndicate (LPM) lodged a report at the Precinct 7 police station in Putrajaya at 11am.
“We will commence investigations,” he said here, yesterday.
Meanwhile, Kuala Lumpur CID chief Gan Kong Meng said the special police task force set up to investigate leaks of the UPSR English and Science papers would investigate this latest report.
The candidates had sat for the Tamil and Mathematics papers on Sept 10.
A re-sit on Sept 30 has been ordered for the English 014/1 and 014/2 and Science 018, 028 and 038 papers after it was found they had been leaked.
Police had earlier recorded statements from 30 individuals, including eight officers from LPM, 19 teachers and an officer from the Education Ministry, to facilitate investigations.
Eleven of the 14 people detained had been released on police bail while the other three are on remand until tomorrow.
Deputy Prime Minister and Education Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin also ordered that LPM director Dr Na’imah Ishak and deputy director of operations Dr Wan Ilias Wan Salleh be suspended with immediate effect over the leaks. – Bernama
