JAKARTA – Malaysian men’s doubles pair Goh V Shem/Tan Wee Kiong who beat Philip Chew/Sattawat Pongnairat from the United States will face an uphill task today when playing South Korea’s 2014 World Champions Ko Sung Hyun/Shin Baek Cheol.
V Shem and Wee Kiong who were far from convincing in their 21-8, 18-21, 21-9 three set win over Philip Chew-Pongnairat at the Istora Senayan today have been drawn against the South Korean pair who are reputed to be the most exciting and dominant pair in world badminton currently.
“We consider today’s match as a serious training session but we will go all out when facing the world champions tomorrow,” said V Shem when met after their match yesterday.
He said it would be the first time he and his partner would be playing against the world champions.
“I do not want to think too much about tomorrow’s match…it will be decided tomorrow,” said Wee Kiong.
