UNIMAP Fetes Students And Staff Not Going Back For Raya

KANGAR: Universiti Malaysia Perlis (UniMAP) will organise an Aidilfitri celebration on the first day of Hari Raya to fete students and its staff who are not going back to their hometown.

Its Vice-Chancellor, Datuk Prof Dr Zul Azhar Zahid Jamal said the function was scheduled to be held at the Kubang Gajah Campus Multipurpose Hall and about 300 foreign students and staff of Islamic faith who had to celebrate the festive season here were expected to attend.

“We are aware that celebrating the ‘Hari Raya’ without family members is something that is very sad for those who cannot return to their hometown.

“At the UniMAP, we are all like a big family, I hope such a gathering will reduce the feeling of sadness of spending the festive season away from home,” he said in a media statement, here today.

He said that such a celebration indirectly gave an opportunity to the foreign community to learn of the way Malaysians celebrated Aidilfitri which would give them a lasting and beautiful memory.–BERNAMA
