Unhealthy Air Quality In Eight Areas

KUALA LUMPUR – Eight areas recorded unhealthy air quality as at 9 am today, compared to 14, at 11 pm last night.

Bandaraya Melaka and Port Dickson had the highest air pollutant index (API) readings at 113, followed by Bukit Rambai (111), Seremban (110), Banting (109), Larkin Lama and Nilai at 102, and Putrajaya (101).

Port Klang and Shah Alam recorded moderate API readings of 93 and 91 this morning, compared to 119 and 112 last night.

Twenty-five areas recorded moderate API readings, including Balok Baru, Kuantan (98); Pasir Gudang (96); Kemaman (93); Batu Muda, Kuala Lumpur (92); Muar (90); and Petaling Jaya (89).

Meanwhile, 16 other areas recorded good API readings, among them, Bintulu (49); Sri Aman (43); Sibu (41); Tanjung Malim (38); Langkawi (39); and Kanga(30).

An API reading of 0 to 50 indicates good air quality; 51 to 100, moderate; 101 to 200, unhealthy; 201 to 300, very unhealthy and 300 and above, hazardous.
