KUALA LUMPUR – UMNO has proven over the past seven decades that its policies have greatly helped the people, said UMNO Supreme Council member Datuk Seri Azalina Othman Said.
The struggle of UMNO, which turned 71 yesterday, was for the people, and its members were able to remain united and strong in the face of various challenges, she said.
“We are unlike the opposition parties which champion their own interests and are now cracking up,” Azalina, who is Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department, said in a statement today in conjunction with UMNO’s 71st anniversary yesterday.
The UMNO anniversary celebration at the Bukit Jalil National Stadium last night was the biggest in the party’s history, with the participation of about 150,000 members from all over the country.
Azalina urged party members to continue to strengthen unity so that UMNO remained relevant in the country’s administration.
“Our struggle is not over yet. A bigger victory awaits in the 14th general election,” she said. – BERNAMA
