KUALA LUMPUR – UMNO will not succeed in the next General Election if party members bicker among themselves and are divided, said its president, Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak.
Najib, who is also the Prime Minister, said UMNO members must enhance solidarity and work with each other.
He also reminded UMNO members to cut out infighting and avoid creating camps in the party’s divisions.
“Always ensure that we never forget our main responsibility, which is to ensure that UMNO continue to be in power to lead and fight for the rights of the people who are always in our hearts,” he said in his latest posting on NajibRazak.com today.
At the same time, Najib said he was grateful for the new zest among Kedah UMNO members who attended the Kedah UMNO Convention 2015 with its theme of “UMNO Pillar of Transformation” yesterday.
“I am grateful to see the new zest among Kedah UMNO members who were present, and hopefully in future conventions, we will see this spirit grow and become a source of inspiration for us to continue our struggle,” he said.
Najib said Kedah UMNO members should use the party’s victory in wresting Kedah from the opposition in the last General Election as an inspiration for its struggle.
“Congratulations to the Kedah UMNO machinery because we meet today as the ruling party of Kedah.
“We need to consider the defeat of the Barisan Nasional Kedah Government before this and our subsequent success in winning Kedah as a lesson to face the coming General Election,” he said.
Najib added that teamwork was one of the factors which contributed to the success of the party in the state. – BERNAMA
