KUALA LUMPUR: Puteri Umno has accused the Opposition of being the “enemy within” for humiliating the country’s security forces who had struggled to protect the nation’s sovereignty from being manipulated by outsiders.
In her policy speech at the opening of the Puteri Umno assembly on Wednesday, wing chief Datuk Mas Ermieyati Samsudin (pic) said certain members of the Opposition behaved like enemies of the state, but then pretended to cry when the Government wished to take stern action against them.
“They are the real actors. Do not forget how they insulted and humiliated our country’s security forces who have worked tirelessly to protect the country from being invaded or manipulated by outsiders,” she told delegates present.
Mas Ermieyati was referencing PKR vice-president Nurul Izzah Anwar, who was recently referred to the Parliamentary Rights and Privileges Committee for meeting with self-styled Sulu princess Jacel Kiram in the Philippines.
Jacel is the daughter of the late self-styled Sulu Sultan Jamalul Kiram III, who ordered the Lahad Datu intrusion in 2013.
Nurul, who is Lembah Pantai MP, had teared up when defending her actions at the Dewan Rakyat last week, following a motion tabled by the Government to refer her to the Parliamentary committee.
Mas Ermieyati urged the Puteri Umno delegates not to fall for the false information being spread in the Opposition’s cunning game.
“I hope all of this can be a lesson that shows how caring our leaders are for placing the interests of the nation above everything else,” she added.-The Star
