KUALA LUMPUR – The first official visit of Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko to Malaysia has opened many doors for both countries to enhance the mutually beneficial relationship.
Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak said he and Poroshenko agreed that there are good opportunities for Malaysian companies to take part in airport management, highway construction and toll management as well as healthcare in that country.
“Today spells a new chapter in Malaysia-Ukraine ties as the visit by President Petro Poroshenko is not only his first official visit but also the first by a Ukrainian president to Malaysia.
“From today’s discussions, we took note that the bilateral trade between our two countries can be elevated to that of a much higher level and we agreed that we should speed up the establishment of the Joint Trade Commission to facilitate collaboration in trade and investment,” he said in his latest blog posting entitled “A New Chapter In Malaysia-Ukraine Ties’, last night.
With regards to the ill-fated flight MH17, he said Malaysia and Ukraine remain committed to seek the truth and justice for the families of the innocent victims who lost their lives.
In his blog NajibRazak.com, Najib also uploaded a few pictures of Poroshenko and his wife, Maryna Poroshenko visiting the Prime Minister’s Office in Putrajaya.
