KUALA LUMPUR – Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) and Maxis Bhd are collaborating to enable the university’s 13 campuses nationwide to be connected via Maxis’ wireless fidelity (WiFi) services.
In a statement today, Maxis said, the collaboration would allow the 30,000-student community to enjoy an ‘Always-On’ and ‘Worry Free’ experience anytime, anywhere on the best Fourth Generation Long-Term Evolution network in the country.
“In addition to the WiFi in campus, selected UKM buses that ply the Bangi campus route have also been fitted with free WiFi on board to ensure that students in particular are also connected while on the go.
“UKM is determined to produce a digital generation and now each employee and student is geared towards embracing the right information and communications technology in all activities such as research, teaching and learning as well as community and industry networks,” it said.
It said the collaboration also extended to student development initiatives such as internship opportunities with Maxis, student entrepreneurship programmes, leadership talks by senior management of Maxis, among others. – BERNAMA
