TANAH MERAH – Two teenagers were killed when a motorcycle they were travelling in, collided with a trailer lorry at the 7.5km Jalan Panglima Bayu-Rantau Panjang here last night.
Muhammad Azrul Mohd Azman, 18, and Muhammad Syukri Abd Talib, 16, both from Kampung Lalang Pepuyu here, died on the spot.
They sustained head injuries in the 9.44pm crash.
Tanah Merah district police chief, DSP Suzaimi Mohamad said the bodies were sent to the Tanah Merah Hospital.
Meanwhile in MACHANG, passengers in two express buses had a narrow escape when the vehicles were involved in a collision with a trailer lorry early today.
The buses, which were each ferrying 27 and 26 passengers were travelling from Kuala Lumpur to Kota Bharu when the crash occurred about 5am at Jalan Machang-Kota Bharu in Labok.
Machang Fire and Rescue Department operations commander, senior fire officer Othman Salleh said the injured drivers were sent to the Machang Hospital before being transferred to the Hospital Raja Perempuan Zainab II in Kota Bharu.
The driver of the lorry escaped unhurt, he said when contacted here.
Othman said one of the buses had crashed into the rear of the lorry which was entering a petrol station.
At that juncture, another bus which was trailing behind, collided with the two vehicles. – BERNAMA
