PETALING JAYA: MCA president Datuk Seri Liow Tiong Lai has again clarified that a Twitter account with the handle @MCAPresident is fake and does not belong to him.
His press secretary, Lim Chau Leng, said Liow through his official account @liowtionglai had already highlighted the fake account in April.
“The account is a fake, which is using the name and designation of Datuk Seri Liow.
“The views offered by the person who owns this fake account by no means represent or reflect the MCA president’s views,†Lim said in a statement on Monday.
He was commenting on Astro Awani which had wrongly taken a tweet from the parody account and attributed it to Liow in a news report on the Low Yat Plaza incident.
“It would be much appreciated if the views of this fake account are not included in Astro Awani’s news report so that it will not confuse the public.
“We will also report this (account) to the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission as it is a serious offence,†Lim added.
Checks on the Astro Awani website showed that the comment from the fake account had been removed from the report, titled ‘Pergaduhan Low Yat tiada kaitan dengan perkauman.’
