JOHOR BAHRU – The Tunku Laksamana Johor Cancer Foundation today received a donation of RM10 million from Iskandar Investment Berhad (IIB) and its corporate partners to aid cancer patients in Johor.
The cheque from 19 companies was presented to the Sultan of Johor, Sultan Ibrahim Sultan Iskandar who attended the IIB Aidilfitri open house here, today.
Also present were Permaisuri of Johor, Raja Zarith Sofia Sultan Idris Shah and Tunku Temenggong of Johor, Tunku Idris Iskandar Sultan Ibrahim.
IIB president and chief executive officer, Datuk Syed Mohamed Syed Ibrahim also attended the function.
The other donors include Khazanah Nasional Berhad, UEM Sunrise Berhad, Iskandar Waterfront Holdings, United Malayan Land Bhd and Albukhary Foundation.
Meanwhile, Syed Mohamed hoped the donation could help the foundation to achieve its objective of providing financial aid to cancer patients who had to pay the high cost of treatment.
“We are pleased with our corporate partners who are willing to give financial support for this foundation,” he added.
Early this year, Sultan Ibrahim announced a RM10 million donation to the Tunku Laksamana Johor Cancer Foundation to aid poor patients pay the cost of treatment.
The cancer foundation was established after his son, the Tunku Laksamana of Johor, Tunku Abdul Jalil, was diagnosed with liver cancer. – BERNAMA
