JOHOR BAHARU – The Tunku Mahkota of Johor, Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim yeterday dropped a bombshell that shocked the local football scene by deciding to step down as the Johor Football Association (PBNJ) president.
PBNJ honorary secretary Mohd Fahmy Yahya said state secretary Datuk Ismail Karim has been named as Tunku Ismail’s successor.
“However, all previous decisions, planning, financial commitments, administration, plans to set up an academy and build a new stadium will go on as planned,” he said in a statement posted on the team’s official Facebook, Johor Southern Tigers, Sunday.
No reasons were given for Tunku Ismail’s decision. – Bernama
