PETALING JAYA: Datuk Seri Dr Salleh Said Keruak has lambasted former prime Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad’s decision to sue Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak, calling it a sign of desperation.
Describing the move by Dr Mahathir and two others to sue Najib for alleged misfeasance in public office as last-ditch attempt to “topple the Prime Ministerâ€, the Communications and Multimedia Minister said that this showed the former premier had no more moves left.
“Tun Mahathir’s latest action demonstrates how desperate he is. He is clutching at straws,†he said in a blog post on Wednesday.
Dr Salleh said that Dr Mahathir’s previous attempts against Najib, first through Umno and later by trying a parliamentary vote of no confidence, were unsuccessful.
“Now Tun Mahathir is trying to sue. His accusations are false, so he will fail yet again.
“Tun Mahathir has run out of options. This action shows that he has no political channels left,†he said.
Earlier on Wednesday, Dr Mahathir along with former Batu Kawan Umno division vice-chief Datuk Seri Khairuddin Abu Hassan and former Umno member Anina Saadudin filed a lawsuit against Najib.
They are seeking for the court to declare that Najib had committed misfeasance in public office and breach of fiduciaries in public office by using his position as the Prime Minister, chairman of Barisan Nasional and Umno president.
