PUTRAJAYA – The Quran recitation of more than 5,000 participants of the #QuranHour programme resonated at Tuanku Mizan Zainal Abidin Mosque, here, today.
The programme organised for the third time by the Warisan Ummah Ikhlas (WUI) Foundation with the theme ‘Bangsa Berbudi dan Penyayang’, was held in more than 1,660 locations simultaneously including 750 locations worldwide.
The Sultan of Perak, Sultan Nazrin Shah also joined the crowd, with other notable guests including Perak Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Abd Kadir, Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Datuk Seri Jamil Khir Baharom and Malaysia Islamic Development Development (Jakim) director-general Tan Sri Othman Mustapha.
Selected verses from the Quran were read, led by, among others, Federal Territory Mufti Datuk Dr Zulkifli Mohamad Al-Bakri, Immigration director-general Datuk Mustafar Ali and Rumah Ngaji icon Datuk Rosyam Nor.
The programme started at noon and ended an hour later.
Media organisations including the Malaysian National News Agency (Bernama) also contributed to the campaign’s success.
#QuranHour is a family, local community, national and global-level campaign aimed at encouraging Muslims to get acquainted with and appreciate reciting the holy book. – BERNAMA
