SEPANG – Movistar Yamaha MotoGP rider Valentino Rossi is claiming that this weekend’s Malaysian Motorcycle Grand Prix (MotoGP) at the Sepang Circuit will be a tricky battle for him and teammate Jorge Lorenzo.
Just two rounds remain to decide who will be crowned 2015 MotoGP World Champion since a mere 11 points separate Rossi and Lorenzo.
Currently Rossi is ahead with 269 points in the MotoGP world standings this season and feels it will be important for him to not make any mistakes on Sunday.
“It has been a very long season, and always point by point with Jorge and very different with the pressure, we pass through all types of moments and we have two races to go with just 11 points and I think it will be very difficult but at the same time with a great battle to follow.
“Sepang is a great track, I like a lot and I feel others riders also like the circuit, the layout is fantastic, this makes things more difficult and combined with the extreme weather conditions, it will be a great race here,” he told reporters at the Sepang International Circuit (SIC) media center, here today.
Rossi, 36 will be relying on years of experience at the Sepang track when he lines up to do battle on Sunday, to replicate his 2003, 2004, 2006, 2008 and 2010 wins.
Meanwhile, Lorenzo, 28, who won the world championship in 2010 and 2012, has yet to win in the premier race at Sepang.
“For me this weekend’s race will have no pressure. We have the possibility to win, we will try our best without fear, nothing to lose and will see what happens,” said Lorenzo. – BERNAMA
