TAIPEI – At least nine people were killed after a Taiwanese TransAsia Airways plane crashed into a river in Taipei on Wednesday morning, Xinhua news agency reported.
Flight ATR-72, which was flying to Kinmen from Taipei, carried 58 people on board including 31 passengers from the Chinese mainland.
The plane crash landed into the Keelung River after clipping an elevated motorway with one of its wings.
A total of 28 passengers have been rescued and taken to nearby hospitals in Taipei and the New Taipei City.
Contact with the plane was lost at about 11 a.m on the day. – BERNAMA
