KUANTAN: Tourism Malaysia Pahang is organising an 84-km cycling event starting from Temerloh to the central point of the peninsula in Kampung Paya Siput, Lanchang on August 23.
State Tourism and Culture Committee chairman Datuk Seri Mohd Sharkar Shamsuddin said, held in conjunction with this year’s 58th Merdeka celebration, the ‘Fellowship Ride To The Centre of Peninsular Malaysia’ programme would also introduce two warrior squares in Pahang.
Cyclists would be flagged off at Tok Gajah Square in Temerloh and finish their ride at Datuk Bahaman in Lanchang, he said.
“Participants will have a chance to view the beauty that village life holds when the cyclists pass through Kampung Bangau Tanjung, Kampung Paya Jawi and Mentakab,” he told a press conference at Wisma Sri Pahang, yeterday.
Mohd Sharkar has targeted about 500 to 600 participants comprising bicycle clubs and individuals.
He added that the participants were also encouraged to take a selfie, upload it to Instagram with hashtag of the programme and the most interesting picture would win a travel voucher in Pahang.
He said the programme would also be made an annual event in the state tourism calender in order to promote tourism activites in west Pahang.
