KUANTAN – In appreciation of the success of the Tok Gajah squad in bringing home the Malaysia Cup for the second time, the Pahang government is offering a cash reward which is double of last year’s.
Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Adnan Yaakob said the amount commensurated with the effort of the team in bringing back the Malaysia Cup after beating Johor Darul Ta’zim (JDT) last Saturday in the final.
“I don’t want to tell how much but the amount is double of last year’s. I feel the reward is worth it for them.”
Adnan said this to reporters after welcoming the return of the Tok Gajah squad and celebrating their victory with about 30,000 squad supporters at Darul Makmur Stadium, here, yesterday.
Also present was Pahang Football Association president, Tengku Abdul Rahman Sultan Ahmad Shah.
Last year, Adnan announced a cash reward of RM30,000 for each of the players and officials, as well as the back-up team following their winning the Malaysia Cup 2013.
Adnan said Pahang’s victory was due to the efforts of the Tengku Muda of Pahang, Tengku Abdul Rahman Sultan Ahmad Shah who was relentlessly promoting football in Pahang.
In the Malaysia Cup final on Saturday, Pahang defeated the JDT team 5-3 from penalty kicks after they drew 2-2 at extra time. – Bernama
