SEPANG: A woman and her eight-month-old baby were critically injured in a three-vehicle collision on KM28.6 of the Elite Highway.
The incident on Monday caused a 7km gridlock from Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) to Putrajaya as motorists travelled home to celebrate Hari Raya with their loved ones.
The victims were travelling in a Honda Jazz when a trailer went out of control and ploughed into their vehicle in the accident at about 1.30pm.
Sepang OCPD Asst Comm Abdul Aziz Ali said Nur Izdihar Ishak, 28, and her son Muhmad Aisy Farhan Abdul Muhaimin, who were passengers in the Honda, were critically injured.
The child’s father Abdul Muhaimin Yahaya, 29, sustained minor injuries.
ACP Aziz said the trailer driver was heading south from KLIA to Putrajaya when he lost control of the vehicle and skidded onto the opposite carriageway before crashing into a lorry and the Honda.
He said the man suffered head injuries while the lorry driver and his co-driver suffered light injuries.
The victims were sent to Hospital Putrajaya for treatment.
