JOHOR BAHRU – A two-year-old boy died after being thrown out of a moving car and then ran over by a four-wheel-drive at Jalan Lebuh Cemerlang, here yesterday.
Seri Alam district police chief Supt Jokhiri Abd Aziz said Jayden Goh Hao Zheng died on the way to the Sultan Ismail Hospital here due to severe head injuries.
He said the accident occurred at about 8.20pm when the victim, who was sitting in the back seat, was suddenly thrown out of the car and fell on the road when his father made a U-turn towards Plentong.
In a statement here today, Jokhiri said police had recorded statements from the victims’ mother and father, aged 35 and 41, respectively, and the 56-year-old year driver of the four-wheel-drive vehicle, a Toyota Hilux, to assist investigations.
“Based on initial investigations, the car carrying the victim has an automatic locking system and because of that, his parents believed the vehicle’s doors were locked.
“However, we will be sending the vehicle to the Computerised Vehicle Inspection Centre to test the locking system,” he said. – BERNAMA
