TNB Technican Injured After High-Voltage Cable Explodes

TELUK INTAN – A Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB) technician was seriously injured when a high-voltage cable at the Medan Niaga Lagenda Electrical Substation, Hutan Melintang near here, exploded as he was doing maintenance work at the substation today.

Perak TNB general manager Y.M Raja Abdul Jalil Raja Zaid, when contacted by Bernama, confirmed the incident which occurred about noon, which resulted in Mohd Zaid Sulaiman, 34, suffering burns on his body.

“The incident is still under investigation. At the moment, we only focused on the best treatment for the victim and the needs of his family members including in terms of logistics,” he said.

It is understood that the victim, from Kampar was sent to the Teluk Intan Hospital by his friends who were not far from the scene after seeing Mohd Zaid going out of the substation with burns on his body.

Hutan Melintang Fire and Rescue Station chief Tuan Soh Tuan Lah, when contacted said the substation was located behind the Bagan Datoh Community College, Hutan Melintang.

“We received a distress call on the incident at 12.18pm but when we arrived at the scene, the victim was already taken to the hospital and the fire had been extinguished,” he said. – BERNAMA
