BERUAS – Tenaga Nasional Berhad today donated school uniforms, shoes, bags and stationery to about 200 less fortunate pupils in the Beruas parliamentary constituency under its ‘Back to School’ Programme in Kampung Matang Acheh, Pangkalan Bahru, here.
The programme is a TNB corporate social responsibility activity in collaboration with TNB Janamanjung.
TNM Janamanjung managing director Datuk Shamsul Ahmad said the recipients were Year One to Year Six pupils in 25 schools in the constituency.
“Each pupil received a set of school uniform, a pair of shoes, a bag and stationery, all valued at RM200,” he said after the programme.
The donation was handed over by Pangkalan Bahru state assemblyman Datuk Abd Manaf Hashim, who is a member of the TNB Board of Directors.
The TNB ‘Back to School’ Programme was initiated in 2013. This year, the recipients comprised about 10,000 pupils in 50 parliamentary constituencies in the country.
Abd Manaf said the donation helped to ease the financial burden of the recipient families who comprised mainly fishermen and smallholders.
Latipah Ali, 48, the parent of a recipient, said: “It helped to ease the financial expenditure for my son who is entering school. Thank you for the aid.” – BERNAMA
