BANTING – Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB) feted about 200 Kampung Labohan Dagang residents at Masjid Al-Mutmainnah in ‘Ihya Ramadan’ programme last night in an effort to get closer to its customers.
Its vice-president (Energy Venture Division) Datuk Nor Azman Mufti said TNB also made cash donation to 75 residents comprising orphans, single mothers and Muslim converts so that they can make preparation for Aidilfitri celebration.
The utilities company also made donation to two orphanges and mosques in Kampung Labohan Dagang.
Nor Azman said Kampung Labohan Dagang was chosen for the annual programme following the development of the country’s largest solar energy project in the village since June 1.
“The 50 Megawatt solar energy project being developed in a 97.12 hectares area is expected to be completed within 18 months. This project will create economic spin-offs for local residents in the form of jobs via the building contractors that we have chosen,” he told Bernama here.
TNB urged the project’s contractors to give priority to the local workforce during the construction of the solar energy project. – BERNAMA
