JOHOR BAHRU – Johor Darul Ta’zim (JDT) patron Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim dedicated the team’s Super League title to his brother Tunku Abdul Jalil.
Tunku Ismail said the news (JDT’s Super League title win) had cheered up Tunku Abdul Jalil who has been diagnosed with cancer since last year.
“On Aug 20 last year, me and my family were saddened when Tunku Laksamana (Tunku Abdul Jalil) was diagnosed with cancer. But yesterday, I received a message from Tunku Laksmana stating that JDT’s title win was the happiest moment of his life.
“I must also thank the Sultan (Sultan Johor, Sultan Ibrahim Sultan Iskandar), Permaisuri Raja Zarith Sofea, my siblings and my wife for giving me the courage and inspiration to me and the people of Johor,” he told about 10,000 fans who had gathered at the Larkin Stadium to welcome their heroes, tonight.
He said without the support of all, JDT would not be where it is today.
Tunku Ismail had earlier joined a convoy that welcomed JDT from the Skudai Toll Plaza and paraded through Jalan Lingkaran Dalam, Jalan Ibrahim, Jalan Abu Bakar, Jalan Skudai, Danga Bay, through Persiaran Tun Sri Lanang, Jalan Abu Bakar, Jalan Wong Ah Fook and Johor Bahru City Centre (JBCC) before reaching the stadium.
