KUALA LUMPUR – Telekom Malaysia Bhd (TM) does not expect the subscription of its services to be easing despite teething problems at the outset of the implementation of the Goods and Services Tax (GST) next year.
Group Chief Executive Officer Tan Sri Zamzamzairani Mohd Isa said the company would go through some challenging patches in the beginning but the demand would stabilise in the long-run or even in the medium term.
“I can’t say how the impact will be. What was once a luxury now is a necessity.
“Social media used to be a luxury, only people who could afford the devices would be able to enjoy it. Today, it’s a necessity, we can’t leave without it.
“So in terms of demand it would still be there. There will be an initial adjustment period for all of us,” he said at a media briefing on its ‘Corporate Spotlight’ here today. – BERNAMA
