ALOR SETAR: The Kedah Government has not ruled out the possibility of following in the footsteps of several other states to increase the basic salary of state assemblymen.
Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Mukhriz Tun Mahathir said the issue involving the revision of Kedah assemblymen’s basic salary had been discussed in a previous Exco meeting and would be debated in the State Assembly sitting next month.
“Maybe, it is time to revise the basic pay of Kedah assemblymen. We admit that the basic salary for the state assemblymen is among the lowest,” he told reporters after closing the Malaysian Council of Former Elected Representatives (Mubarak) annual conference here yesterday.
Also present were Mubarak president, Tan Sri Abdul Aziz Abdul Rahman.
