ALOR SETAR – Strong winds continue to lash several areas in Kota Setar district with the latest incident this afternoon.
Several trees were uprooted and a car was crushed by a big tree in Jalan Sultan Badlishah when a thunderstorm lashed the town centre at 4.55 pm.
The thunderstorm did not cause any casualty as the owner of the vehicle, Chin Kuen Han, 32, was working in his office nearby.
Chin said after being told of the incident by friends, he rushed to the scene and was shocked to see his Honda CRV crushed by a big tree.
“My car’s windshield, roof and rear window were crushed by the falling tree. Loss is estimated at more than RM5,000,” he added.
Meanwhile, Senior Officer 1 of Jalan Raja Fire Station, Ramlan Mohd ArisÂ said they received a distress call from the public at 4.56 pm.
“On arrival, we saw a car crushed by a big tree but the owner was not around. Employees of Alor Setar City Council were seen cutting the tree to remove the car,” he added. – BERNAMA
