THT Lead Premier League Table After Downing TNB 2-0

KUALA LUMPUR – The Terengganu Hockey Team (THT) team have overtaken Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB) to lead the Premier League table after a resounding 2-0 victory over the latter at the Bukit Jalil National Hockey Stadium here today.

Argentine import player Gonzalo Peillat scored the opening goal in the 31st minute through a penalty corner, before slotting in the second in the 34th minute, proving his track record as one of the best penalty corner specialists in the world.

THT head coach Sarjit Singh when met after the match said he was “very pleased” with the result which gave them the three vital points to top the league.

“We will take it one game at a time, and next, we meet UniKL, which is a strong team, so we hope to keep up our performance in the next game,” he said.

Meanwhile, UniKL took its tally to seven points from four games, sitting in third after recording a 3-1 victory over TNB Thunderbolt in the second match this afternoon.

Stunned by the early goal, Arul Selvaraj’s men regrouped, and equalised through Muhammad Najmi Farizal Jazlan’s penalty corner in the 14th minute. They added two more goals through Timothy James Deavin (42nd minute) and Jeroen Dolf Hertzberger (58th minute) to mark their second win in the league.

In the third match played here tonight, the Kuala Lumpur Hockey Club (KLHC) thrashed Maybank 5-1.

Mohd Syamim Mohd Yusof scored the opener for KLHC in the 4th minute before Jang Jonghyun and Thomas Carson scored the second and third goals through penalty corners in the 10th and 20th minute, respectively.

Muhammad Azfar Yaqoob got one back for Maybank in the 45th minute; however, Lee Nam Yong’s field goal in the 54th minute and Muhammad Razie Abdul Rahim’s penalty corner in the 58th minute ensured the emphatic victory for KLHC. – BERNAMA
