JEMPOL (Negeri Sembilan) – Three soldiers were killed in a road accident involving a car at Km3 of Jalan Bahau-Juasseh near here early today, according to police.
Two women, one of them the driver and the other the front-seat passenger, were badly injured in the accident which happened at about 4.30 am.
The soldiers have been identified as Corporal Mohd Izwan Azizan, 31, Corporal Mohd Shahrul Nizam, 35, and Lance Corporal Mohd Mostakim Abd Majid, 29.
The women, aged 22 and 23, are not military personnel.
Police investigation revealed that the car skidded to the opposite road shoulder, crashed onto an electric pole and hit a sewerage drainage outlet.
Jempol Police chief Supt Hamzah Alias, when contacted, confirmed the accident.
Bahau Fire and Rescue Station operations officer, Senior Fire Officer II A. Gonaselan, said the station received a call at 4.30 am and rushed a truck with seven firemen to the scene.
“The team found two men trapped in the wrecked car and three people outside the vehicle. It took 25 minutes to remove the trapped men,” he said when contacted by Bernama.
The women were sent to the Tuanku Ampuan Najihah Hospital in Kuala Pilah while the bodies of the three soldiers were sent to the Jempol Hospital, he said. – BERNAMA
