KUALA LUMPUR – Syarikat Bekalan Air Selangor Sdn Bhd (Syabas) has temporarily closed the operations of its three main treatment plants following hydraulic fluid pollution in the river.
Its Corporate Communications and Public Affairs general manager, Priscilla Alfred Dharan said the treatment plants had been closed since 8pm yesterday, affecting the distribution of water supply in the Klang Valley and Shah Alam.
“Due to the loss of production last night which amounts to 1,350 million litres per day (mld), recovery for the affected areas will take a few days.
Tankers will be mobilised to the affected areas until the water supply resumes.
“Lembaga Urus Air Selangor (Luas) is investigating the source of contamination,” she said in a statement, here, today. – Bernama
