JOHOR BAHRU – Three Johor Barisan Nasional (BN) assemblymen have announced their intention to join Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (PPBM).
They are Rosleli Jahari (Johor Lama), Alwiyah Talib (Endau) and Rasman Ithnain (Sedili).
Some 40 UMNO members in the area would also join PPBM.
Rasman, in a joint press conference here today, said the decision was made of their own choosing without any pressure or threats from any quarters.
“We do this for the unity of the Malays and the people.
“As the elected representatives of the people, this is one of the best measures to ensure unity and it is something important for the people,” he said.
Although some would consider them as betraying their voters, he said that the voters in the areas involved would understand their action.
“God willing the voters will understand because they want us to serve them,” he said.
Meanwhile, in a separate press conference, Johor PPBM secretary Datuk Osman Sapian said he welcomed the trio’s intention to join the party.
However, he said they would have to go through a vetting process first.
“We want to ensure that they really want to be with us, we do not want anyone to join and leave the party whenever they feel like it,” he said. – BERNAMA
